The Race Is On

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.  For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male  nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.  And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galations 3: 26-29 NKJV

One cannot watch our current political season without seeing and hearing the word "Rascist" being bantered around pretty freely by all involved.  Of course, we see it more from our friends on the democrat side of the aisle than any other party.  Why is this?  Well, due to our inherent human mistakes of the past and present, some may have goood reason to feel as if they are being discriminted against.  The issue of race politics has been such a hot button issue in the past decade that many in this nation built by immigrants have come to fear the word, or  of being accused of it.  But is racism as real today as it once  was, or is it simply a crutch used to the advanyage of a certain few?  I'd say both.  I was much too young to recall the violent protests in Birmingham, Alabama in the 1060's, but I've seen the news footage.  Many recall the viscious nature with which not only black but also white protestors were dispersed with fire hoses, tear gas and police dogs.  I missed out on these protests thankfully.  However, I can vividly recall many such riots in Los Angelos, Baltimore and other cities.  It seems that there are many among us who will stop at nothing to use a race riot to further their cause, whatever it may be.  And for what?  What are we really gaining except property damage annd further unrest?  One question that I RARELY hear asked is, just what is Gods view on race relations?   Well, as we see in Galatiions 3, our Lord does not see His children through the shades of race, but through the death and resurection of Jesus Christ.

For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a  poor man in filthy clothes, and you pay atttention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, "You sit here in a goood place," and say to the poor man, "You stand there," or, "Sit here at my footstool.."  Have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?  Listen, my beloves brethren: Has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?
James 2: 1-5 NKJV

As I see it, when we segregate others by the color of their skin, are we not placing ourselves in judgement over them?  Well, James obviously thought so in James 2.  Has our Lord not created us all in His image?  So, what race is God?   Is God black or white?   NO!  As I've stated, God does not view us in racial undertones, but in the indwelling of His only Son Jesus.  Yet, this is something that has often been left out of most discussions on race, even from so called men of the cloth such as Al Sharpton.  It is these people who seek to fan the flames of racsism in this country for their own political agenda.  So how is it that our heavenly Father see us?  From my experience, I have found nothing in the creation story that even resembles Gods seperation of His creation along the racial lines which we know today.

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion  over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
Genesis 1: 26 NKJV

And so we are created in the very likeness of our heavenly Father.  THIS is how our Lord God sees his children.  So, I would have to say that it is we who have introduced the idea of that racial divide tthat afflicts us today.  And it is we who continue to fan the flames of division along these lines.  To say that somehow God is responsible for this behavior is ignoring who God truly is.  For how can such hatred be born out of love?  So, if it is indeed mankind who ultimately gave rise to these divisions, then it is mankind who is responsible for ultimately healing these wounds we have inflicted.  We can start by begining to see others as created in our Lords likeness, created out of love.
