Gods Country

"If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV

The scriptures tell us that the Isrealites were Gods chosen people.  Indeed, the Lords providence was with them through their trials and journeys.  However, it is also worth noting here that the very Messiah that God promised to His people was meant to be a savior for all of Gods children.  For the blood of Jesus was not shed only for the Jews, but for all nations among Gods creation.  It is God who shows no favoritism.  Now, if only we here in these United States were to come to grips with this truth.  For generations we have held on to the misguided belief that our United States is a nation chosen by God for prosperity.  While I believe this may hold some truth, I feel that we are missing the point entirely.  Yes, we have been blessed as a nation perhaps more than any other.  However, to proudly proclaim that God Himself has chosen us over all other nations is more than likely said in error.  Established in 1776, the United States itself came into existance through the vision of Godly men, not scriptural fulfillment.  For there is no mention of this great nation in scripture.  One cannot argue, however, that our founding fathers were indeed menof faith.  There is no question that this nation, deeply steeped in chistianity, has flourished.  So much so that it has become a beacon of hope for others across the globe.  Despite the inflamitory comments of our current community organizer in chief, the United States IS NOT to be blamed, mocked nor appolagized for.  No, we are a nation of freedom whose founders lifted themselves from the bondage of British repression.  We do well to remember the events that led to the birth of our great nation.  From towns such as Bunker Hill, Boston and Valley Forge the call of freedom rang out.  It is hard to travel through the Northeast United States even today and not be in awe of the heritage of our nation.

"Suppose a nation in some distant region should take the bible for their only law book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited!  Every member would be obliged in conscience to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward almighty God...what a eutopia, what a paradise this region would be."
John Adams
2nd President of the United States
Signer of the Declaration of Independence

The physical signs of the faith of our great nation are obvious.  From our founding fathers to our christian values that have become the basis of our moral and legal conduct written upon the very laws by which we abide.  The fact that there remains a segment of our population who continue to argue the arrogance of this nation is interesting.  For it is not this nation that is arrogant, but the citizens who inhabit it!  It is not the United States that darkened its history with the stains of slavery, corruption and war.  No, this was mans doing!  Therefore, when I see someone protesting this nation as being biggoted and injust, I remember that mans pride can make him do terrible things.  Shall we look upon other nations such as Germany, Japan and Russia as being wicked as well?  Definately!  I am more than happy with proclaiming my country as blessed by God than being chosen among all other nations.  We remain, without a doubt, a nation strongly influenced by our Lord.
