A Fact Of Disobedience

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
Genesis 2:7 NKJV

Every story has a begining.  Far from being just a story, the first part of the book of Genesis relates to the reader the very begining of life on earth.  For before God spoke anything into existance, the scriptures tell us that the earth was "Without form and void."  Moreover, darkness covered the face of the earth.  Not too hospitable of a place.  Nothing in the space of...nothing.  However, I wouldn't  exactly say that there was nothing present, for from  the very begining our Lord  was there.  We may get a glimpse of our Lord in Genesis 1:2.

The earth was without form, void; and darkness was on the face of the deep.  And the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:2 NKJV

We do not see God in a physical form we are accustomed to seeing others around us.  No, this was the "Spirit of God."   It's  my belief that this is the true form that God takes, but that's a point for another time.  For this discussion, Gods spirit was present in that formless void that would one day become the planet earth.  We don't get much of a glimpse into just what Gods spirit was up to in these early stages.  However, it is in verse 3 that the spirit begins to speak the earth into existance.

Then God said,  "Let there be light"; and there was light.
Genesis 1:3 NKJV

Thus began the path of creation, which ultimately ended with the jewel of Gods creation, that which He created in His own image, man.  You, me even your neighbor, all created in Gods own image.  I'm not just talking about christians here.  For when God said "Let us make man in our own image, he was most assuredly refering to ALL mankind.  So, that void in the middle of nowhere has now suddenly brought forth life, all by the spoken word of God.  I'm guessing the "big bang" happened sometime after this point in our history.  Anyway, Gods newly formed creation is now online.  We have the waters, the plants, the beasts of the field, the birds of the air and Adam to look after it all.  Well, apparently God knew it wasn't good that Adam should be alone, so he brought him Eve as a helper.  We now have Gods creation, male and female, Adam and Eve and our Lord communing daily in the garden with them.  From the begining I believe this is what God desired, to have that close relationship with His creation.  Of course, life in the garden had it's rules.

And the LORD God commmanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."
Genesis 2:16 NKJV

Now, to most of us, this is a invitation.  If someone tells us NOT to do something our very first inclanation is to go ahead and do it anyway.  Think speed limits, a hot stove and your tongue on a frozen pipe.  Yes, we've all been there.  To Adams credit, he adhered to Gods command, for awhile.  That is, until he had a little coaching from the serpent.

And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat of it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die."  Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.  For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
Genesis 2: 2-5 NKJV

We all know the rest of this story, Adam and Eve fall victim to the deceiver satan and fall into sin/disobedience to God.  THIS is the begining  of mankinds sin nature.  For it was Adam and Eves disobedience to  Gods command that led to our fall into sin.  This, is "The fall."

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.
Psalm 51:5 NKJV

Of course, it would take a blood sacrafice and the ultimate death of that sin nature which was conceived in the garden, but more on that later.
