WOS

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.  All things were created through Him and for Him.  And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.  And He is the head of the body,  the church, who is the begining, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things  He may have preeminence.
Colossions 1: 15-18 NKJV

There is a stumbling block among we christians today.  Well, it's been there for many years actually.  It is the misconception that despite being created from the very dust of our Lords creation, that we are somehow independent of Him.  We show this in subtle ways that we may not realize in the moment.  For we may believe in our hearts that our Lord indeed created all  things, and yet we continue as if we are responsible for our own destiny.  This is a dangerous belief that ultimately relegates God to a lower status in our lives.  Make no mistake, if we say He created all things and yet believe that we ourselves somehow have a independent nature then we are missinng the point entirely.  For has not God created all things?   Is He not responsible for the very life and thoughts which we have?  In fact, all that we have or ever will have is directly from God.  So we tell ourselves that we are in charge of our own destiny.  We struggle with issues of our own self confidence.  Really?  It seems that we yet have not broken through the walls of unbelief in all that our Lord has created and provided for His children.  How are we in charge of our own destiny if God has created and is in control of all things?  Were not all things created by Him that are in heaven and on earth?  In case you're wondering, "All things" includes everything about you and that creation we refer to as ourselves.  Are we foolish enough to believe that we can pick and choose just what and what does not belong to God?  If you hold this belief, then tell me again exactly what does NOT belong to
Him who created all?  {Sound of crickets chirping}

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
Genesis 2:7 NKJV

Now, I've searched the book of Genesis and looked for that passage where it tells  us that our Lord God created everything about us but for our own nature and destiny, but unfortuantely I couldn't find any such reference.  Could it be that it doesn't even exist?  Why then do we continue to act out something that does not exist?  In this age of labeling personality disorders, I believe that I will refer to this as WOS or the "We ourselves syndrome."  I am not foolish enough to believe that I am truly independent in any way, for I had nothing to do with my own creation.  About the only thing we ourselves are capable of is choosing to accept this belief.  However, even our  own freedom to choose is a gift from God.  So, tell me again just  how indepepndent you are christian.  And what of our own self confidence issues?  Can we have confidence in something we simply are not responsible for?  Our confidence should instead be in He who truly is within us, our Lord Jesus!

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."
Galations 2:20 NKJV

As Paul explains to us in Galations 2:20, we no longer live for ourselves, but it is Christ who now makes His home within us.  Therefore, to say that we have confidence in ourselves is ignoring He who is in us.  For we do not live our lives independent of our Lord.  Instead, we have faith and confidence in Christ who is in us.
